Hands with intricate henna designs resting on a gold purse, wearing a beige or cream-colored outfit.
  • Natural henna stains the best on your palms. The skin on your palms (the epidermis) is the thickest layer of the skin hence the deep and rich stain of your henna design. Your backhands are also perfect for a natural henna stain.

The skin on your arm and legs are thinner compared to your palms, hence a weaker stain.

REMEMBER: The thicker the skin, the darker the stain.

  • Yes, we hold public and treatment liability cover for all our mobile and event bookings.

  • Jagua gel develops its stain over 12 hours, when you remove your design, it will be light initially. Do not worry! Your stain will get darker as the hours go by.

It is like a magic trick. Its peak stain is at 48 hours

  • It stains the best anywhere on your skin, as long as you keep your design on for at least 4 hours.

Jagua gel designs on the legs, torso and arms last longer, as these areas are not exfoliated as frequently as our hands. However, on the feet and arms, the stain is darkest as the skin is thickest there. The more you wash the area of your design, the quicker the design fades.

  • No. Before your appointment finishes, we cover your designs with Mefix tape.

Mefix tape is a breathable and skin friendly tape, which helps to darken your henna stain during the stain process.

Having said this, it is your responsibility to be vigilant with your henna aftercare.

For all Jagua gel designs- Mefix tape is applied by us only when the design is completely dry.

For Natural henna designs- Mefix tape is not compulsory. Over the years we have found that Mefix tape applied on the palms causes clients to sweat, which blurs the fine detail of their palm design. Therefore, we only apply Mefix tape on the backhands and forearms.

However, you can choose if you still want it or not for your natural henna design.

  • Collaborative, enjoyable and simply a vibe.

Getting your henna done with us is a detox: we create a calming space and work with you to create elegant and detailed henna designs for every skin tone.

  • Natural Henna is Hydrophobic. This means natural henna simply does not like water.

Water is ineffective in darkening your natural henna stain as it creates a barrier between the essential oil in the henna paste and your skin. Instead, remove it with natural oil such as: Mustard seed oil, Coconut oil or Almond oil.

  • We seal our designs with a Rose water and Sugar sealant. This rehydrates the paste and darkens the stain.

Once you have removed your design, use either Vaseline or Vicks Vapour Rub to protect your design against water.
